President of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine
From the context of the war occuring in Ukraine, where maintaining the existent and visible territorial borders is the main priority for the country, it is especially interesting to also reflect on other invisible borders between Ukraine and Europe. It was not until the start of the on-going war that Europe was forced to pay attention to Ukraine’s art and cultural landscape as a separate, individual state. The result is an increased amount of interaction between Ukraine and the EU, a bridge where there was a border. Art and culture serve as the material for development of territories that seek to unite.
